Still in Lobo village, you are able to enjoy the beauty of Netherlands heritage, Fort du Bus monument. Fort du Bus was Netherlands administration pos which was built in 1828.
The name of Fort du Bus was taken from L.P.J. Burggraaf du Bus de Gisignies, the name of the governor General of Hindia Netherlands who authorized at that moment. The establishment of this fort signed the started time of the Hindia Netherlands colonization in Papua.
At that moment, the Hindia Netherlands government promoted the three original peoples as the head region. There were Kasa as the King Namatota and Lutu (the noble person in Lobo, Mewara and Sandawan) as King Lokahijia. On 1835, the malaria disease influenced Lobo and changed the condition. This disease killed most of the Hindia Netherlands army there. Finally, they left this fort.
