Tara Temple, The Oldest Buddha Heritage In Yogyakarta – Borobudur always called when people chat about the Buddha’s temple. In fact, not only Borobudur that Yogyakarta has. There are so many temples in this place. For example, Tara temple, which is situate on Kalibening, Kalasan. Tara temple established by Rakai Panangharan, the man who concept Borobudur. This temple has another name, Kalasan temple and become popular because Tara temple situated on Kalasan.
Tara temple was finished establish on 778AC and become an older Buddha temple in Yogyakarta. The temple location is not far from Yogya-Solo bypass. The aim of Tara temple establishment is for honour the Pancapana wedding from Sanjaya Dynasty with Dyah Pramudya Wardhani from Syailendra dynasty. Beside as a wedding gift, this temple is the answer from the King request for establish another holy building for Tara Goddess and the Monastery for the priest.
Tara temple has the square basic form and has the measurenment about 45m x 34m per each side. Vertically, a temple building was consist of there parts such as basic part, the body and the proof of the temple. The basic part standing on the square stone cover and wide stone with the stair that decorated with Makara in the edge. Meanwhile, the basic part of this temple surrounding with root decoration that appear out from the vas.
