image_thumb Benoa Port, Bali, Priority to become Turn-Around Port for International Cruises Secretary General Ministry of Culture and Tourism Dr. Sapta Nirwandar said, Benoa Port, Bali to be a priority in development as an international turn around port so could accept the international cruise ships and in the same time could push the maritime tourism in Eastern Indonesia especially in Bali.

 

As a turn around port there will be a lot of embarkation and debarkation of cruise ships at Benoa Port, this activity will push the maritime tourism widely said Mr. Sapta Nirwandar when discuss and opening the 2nd Munas (National Deliberative Council) of Gahawisri (Gabungan Pengusaha Wisata Bahari = Association of Maritime Tourism Proprietor) in Jakarta,

 

The development of facility in Benoa Port must fulfilled the International Safety Port (ISP) Standard that has been established by International Maritime Organization (IMO) and also the needs of market demands that port was not only as a container port but also includes entertainment and leisure,.

 

In many countries a port has become more interesting tourism destination than other tourism object, he said.

 

Developing Benoa as turn around port will support other ports in Eastern Indonesia such as Kupang, Alor, Makasar and Bitung which have excellent maritime destination.

 

The speakers in pre discussion of 2nd Munas (National Deliberative Council) of Gahawisri by theme Realizing Maritime Tourism as Primary Tourism in Indonesia and as a World Maritime Destination are Widi A.Pratikto (Secretary General DKP), Joko Santoso (Member of Komisi X DPR), and YP Loke from Singapore Marine Tourism (SMT).
